Fifty years of kidney care in metro Atlanta.

Georgia's largest private nephrology practice — built patient by patient, over five decades, into one of the most established kidney-care practices in the country.

In short

Georgia Nephrology is the largest private nephrology practice in Georgia, caring for kidney patients across metro Atlanta since 1976. With 19 physicians and 11 advanced practice providers across 9 offices — and clinical research through the Georgia Nephrology Research Institute — the practice pairs deep experience with care close to home.

Our purpose

One purpose, unchanged for fifty years.

Since 1976, we've cared for patients with kidney disease across Atlanta and its suburbs — and over those five decades, we've grown into one of the most established kidney-care practices in the country.

Our purpose has stayed the same the whole way: to provide the highest-quality care for people with kidney disease, explained clearly and delivered close to home.

What people remember is being treated with respect — and having things explained until they truly understand them.

Our story

From a single Decatur office to the largest practice in the state.

Georgia Nephrology's roots reach back to the mid-1970s — the practice you see today is the product of half a century of steady growth.

1976

A practice begins in Decatur

The practice was founded in Decatur by Dr. Barry Rosenbaum as Nephrology Consultants.

1983

A partnership forms

Dr. Ze'ev Sharon joined, and the practice became Rosenbaum & Sharon Nephrology Consultants.

1993

New leadership joins

With the addition of Dr. Karen Muro — today the practice's CEO — the group was renamed the Atlanta Nephrology Referral Center (ANRC).

2000s

Growth across metro Atlanta

ANRC thrived, adding physicians and expanding into communities including Conyers, Lithonia, Snellville, and Lawrenceville.

2014

Georgia Nephrology is formed

ANRC joined forces with Georgia Quality Kidney Care — a respected group with offices in Lawrenceville, Buford, and Johns Creek. The combined practice became Georgia Nephrology as it exists today.

2026

Fifty years

Georgia Nephrology marks 50 years of caring for metro Atlanta's kidney patients.

The through-line has never changed: experienced physicians, close to home, focused on getting your kidneys back on track.

What sets us apart

What five decades of growth have built.

01

A 50-year foundation

Since 1976, generations of metro-Atlanta families have trusted Georgia Nephrology with their kidney care. That longevity reflects a reputation earned patient by patient, year after year.

02

Recognized expertise

Our physicians are regularly recognized among Atlanta Magazine's Top Doctors — in 2026, 10 of our physicians earned the honor, more than any other nephrology group in Atlanta.

03

Research that reaches our patients

Through the Georgia Nephrology Research Institute, our patients can take part in clinical studies and reach newer treatments — a depth of care usually associated with university hospitals, available right here in the community.

04

Outcomes you can measure

Quality care isn't just a promise — it's something we track. We take part in value-based care programs that tie how we're measured to how our patients actually do — giving patients, and their referring doctors, confidence that the care here is working.

05

Care close to home

With 9 offices across Gwinnett, DeKalb, Rockdale, Fulton, Hall, and Walton counties — several with on-site labs — expert kidney care is never far. And because our physicians provide medical direction and care at more than 32 dialysis centers, your care can stay connected through every stage.

06

A team for every community

Our physicians and advanced practice providers are a diverse group, reflecting the many communities of metro Atlanta — so patients can find care that understands them.

Our values

The same principles have guided our care for 50 years.

01

Compassion

We attend to the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of our patients, and treat everyone — patients and colleagues alike — with dignity and respect.

02

Honesty

We hold ourselves to high ethical standards and to genuine accountability in everything we do.

03

Excellence

We practice evidence-based medicine, help shape national standards of care, and commit to continuous improvement.

04

Safety

We protect our patients from harm through a culture of open communication, transparency, and learning from every experience.

The team, at scale

Big enough to lead. Close enough to know you.

Care that stays with you

You're not a chart here. You're a patient our team gets to know.

Kidney care is rarely a single visit — it's a relationship that can span years and stages. Georgia Nephrology is built for that. The physician who helps you protect your kidneys early can keep caring for you through every later stage, including dialysis, because our team is woven throughout the region's kidney care.

If you've been referred to a kidney specialist, or you have diabetes or high blood pressure and want your kidneys checked, we'd be glad to care for you.

Fifty years in — and just getting started.

Whether you've been referred by your doctor or simply want your kidneys checked, we're here to help.
